I began making these with the “stay at home” tarot, utilizing an old Fifth Estate print. From there, I quickly realized how much fun they could be and started putting them out as often as I could on Adbusters social channels.
The cards themselves are repurposed from very high-res scans of the original Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck (1909), as are most of the letters used to construct the titles, and much of the art. There are also woodcuts from Fifth Estate (1987), Alciato’s Book of Emblems (1531), Foxe’s Book of Martyrs (1563), Li Hua’s March of Democracy (1947), and Graphic Source (1986). And some of the art is my own, usually with thick black ink.
A couple of the cards ended up appearing in different issues of Adbusters magazine, but the whole set found a home in Organise! Issue 98, scattered throughout the mag.
